And so the changepot rolls along ever so slowwwwly... we've found $1.21 in change since my last update. Big up to Chazz Palminteri on his stellar performance on Broadway- nothing like some storytelling on a cold winter night. Love it!!!
What a freezing cold day! I did manage to find seven cents- a nickel and two pennies while shopping for an outfit today. I've decided this early morning gym thing may not be such a good idea- perhaps when it gets a tad bit warmer out then i'll venture out in the wee hours.. for now it's a no-go.
Another year has come and gone- hello 2008! Thanks to the generous breeze that swayed my attention to a nearby folded wet receipt with $8.00 neatly tucked inside it. I let the money dry for a few days and now it's going right in the pot (not so big a pot like say, 2007). Part of it has to do with us not going out much also.
Yesterday, the Krabs found $0.92 scattered around in the mall and other various places- bringing the total of found money to $8.92. As I look back in 2007, I'm quite grateful for the new friends I've made this year and look forward to many more years with them in my life. Thank you, all of you, for bringing joy to my greyscale world!!
After watching a disappointing Giants- Patriots game, I figured I should record the Krabs' finds since the last update. Hubby managed to find a crispy ten dollar bill that flew right underneath the car before Christmas (thanks Santa!). The rest came in change- all $1.27 of it. We've been finding lots of pennies but it looks like dollars are in short supply lately (then again, we haven't been foraging around much!)
Christmas madness is about! So far we've collected $1.03 in the past few days (mostly pennies, dimes, and a few nickels). Side note: yesterday we happened to see the cast members of the cable show 'Orange County Choppers' while shopping at the mall for last minute gifts. They look much bigger on television!
it's been a very busy week here at chez Krabs. Right now we're sitting on $3.41 collected during the week- two one dollar bills, two quarters, four dimes, two nickels, and the rest in pennies. Congrats to my hawks for the amazing NFC win- niiiiice crush 42-21.. this is our fourth championship in a row- thanks MIKEY!!
Right now I am tallying up totals but this vid clip is too irresistible to let pass a minute longer. Mister Krabs and I went to see the Seattle Seahawks battle the Eagles- here is one clip of the chaos that reigned amidst the cold weather elements:
Chalk up another twelve cents for the changepot. Nickel and seven pennies courtesy of the local supermarket. I tried a new recipe for Southern Fried Chicken.. i'm proud of the results :)
Were you thankful for all the blessings of 2007? I'd forgotten to update this blog for a hot minute here... we've been saving up the change we've found for accountability. So far it's $2.16. Year 3 of the changepot seems to have started rather slow. Today hubby found a dollar bill in the same mall where I found a $20 bill . Right now we haven't hit the double digits yet ::sigh:: I have faith though.
Kudos to the fine folks at the Runners' Mill- a generous sixteen cents sits in the changepot thanks to them. The day is still early- let's see if we find more coinage thus far!
We found a total of 4 lonely pennies laying on the floor. Sandy picked up two, I found one during my AM gym bout, and Othello spotted one and howled (actually, he didn't- I just wanted to mention my beagle on this blog :).
I don't see much hope for pingage in the near future. Once the cold comes, people tend to hold on to their dough with an iron grip!
---------------- Now playing: Def Leppard - Animal via FoxyTunes Didn't go out today. Stayed home and watched football all day. Got pigskin on the brain y'all
---------------- Now playing: Celia Cruz - Uno Te quiere na via FoxyTunes Que dia mas larga! Whoops.. this morning we shuffled around Staten island-running errands in some realllly bad traffic. All was not lost. During our first trip out- we noticed our tire pressure warning light came on. Gas station #1 gave us 4 pennies as we checked the pressure with the air machine (good reading). After looking the wheels over a bit, we (hubby, myself, and the gas attendant) decided it would be best to go to another air machine. Gas station #2 gave us two pennies and this time the tires were low. Hub gave it some air. As we pulled out, the light came back on. We finally caved in and bought a pressure gauge. Turned out we OVERinflated the tires. All is well now.
I paid a visit over to the bank where the changepot cash is held. The teller was the exact same girl who was there when we first opened up the changepot account. She was shocked at how much we'd found in two years. Being a typical CSR, she was suggesting we tuck some of it away in a CD since we were getting a little under 4.2%. I politely thanked her but didn't entertain the idea too much. The changepot grew by 11 bucks in one year. Now with over 600 in there, perhaps it will grow a bit more. Quien sabe?
We racked up a dime at the grocery store. and two pennies in the parking lot- making it an eighteen cent day. Woohoo.. at least it's something, right?
Long day indeed! Today Sandy went on a class trip to PA to visit that visionary Ben F's house. She came home excited and full of pennies. Sadly, she was ripped off at some food place= $11 for chicken fingers, small fries, and a small beverage. I'll have to go there and give them my opinion someday!
Hubby found a few dimes while running errands. He's headed on yet another tedious business trip but as usual, he will report his finds daily via email for accountability at a later date :) Little baby kitty even found two pennies at school- she kept them in her skirt pocket and happily handed them over as soon as she got home from school. I love our chats:
Mommy! I found Ping!!
Good girl! How much did you find?
Twenty five cents! (I inspected her hand- two ugly pennies and no silvery coins in sight)
Excellent babe. That's two cents but it's still money. Come on over to the coin jar and insert it.
Nothing makes her happier than to be part of the ping crowd!
Despite the ugly weather, the Krabs found a total of $0.82- three quarters, one nickel, and two pennies- the quarters in the return hopper of a vending machine and the rest scattered around staten island.
Documenting found change - from pennies to dollars- since October 2005. As seen on CNN, Fox News, and NBC.
